Introducing:
Expanded Polystyrene Services Cornwall Ltd
Polystyrene collection and reprocessing capabilities in the heart of Cornwall.
Expanding waste services, reducing waste.
About EPS Cornwall
EPS Cornwall offers two distinct services to those organisations and individuals who produce waste expanded polystyrene (EPS) as part of their day to day business:
- Booked/Scheduled collections
- Serviced Containers
Our clients range from self builders to major developers, local waste management companies to truly global organisations and they all share one common opinion: putting eps into a general waste stream is inefficient and expensive.
All of our facilities and logistics are covered by the appropriate waste management and environmental licencing in accordance with the regulations. Evidence and certificates can be provided on request.
Construction Sites
EPS and XPS (Extruded Polystyrene) are commonly used as insulation materials and their use produces an element of waste. Construction sites also see an amount of EPS arise in the form of packaging. Specialist construction companies making use of Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF) also produce EPS waste.
And it’s not just new build projects. Renovations and refits can also generate significant quantities of EPS waste. In nearly all cases, waste EPS is collected with general C&D streams and sent to landfill.
EPS Cornwall can provide organisations and sites of all sizes with bespoke collection services ranging from large scale containers to supplying bulk bags so that the material can be collected separately and re-enter the resource supply chain.
Transfer Stations & HWRCs
Working with commercial waste transfer station operators and Cornwall’s waste services providers, EPS Cornwall provides cost efficient, bespoke options for diverting EPS away from landfill and incineration.
We provide a range of sealed container options with differing levels of hands on service to best suit the volumes of waste EPS arriving at our clients’ sites. For large volume handlers, this could be modified shipping container style facilities and for smaller producers, sealed skips. We work closely with our clients to ensure maximum benefit of the service is achieved and in turn offer our clients the best value for money and performance return on investment.
If your business handles any volume of waste EPS, get in touch to see if we can provide you with a service to meet your demands.
Onwards & Upwards
Material collected by EPS Cornwall is either processed for recycling or remanufactured, here, in Cornwall, to produce high quality products for the construction industry.
Waste EPS has always been seen as a difficult waste stream to effectively and efficiently managed but to its disproportionate volume to weight ratio. Services are few and far between and most waste EPS ends its life in either landfills or incinerated to create energy.
Our services aim to promote materials and resource efficiency by supply a clean source of EPS to reprocessors across the country and produce cutting edge construction products for use on our doorstep.
Our services help our clients improve their green credentials, save money on waste management and promote resource efficiency
Case Studies & Examples
Small Scale ICF Contractor
ICF waste is often EPS or EPS with or without small quantities of additional materials such as HDPE and metal. EPS Cornwall provided bulk bags to this Nudura ICF contractor to collect ICF materials. These were then collected, sorted and had the non EPS materials removed. Both the EPS and the HDPE are then stored ready for transport to the appropriate reprocessor.

Commercial Refit of External Cladding
We are in discussion with established architects and construction firms who are assessing the need to refit multi storey and commercial buildings which have external cladding that is no longer suitable for purpose. By separating the EPS from the general C&D waste stream, we offer genuine cost benefits to our clients but also improve their performance under environmental regulation.

Boosting MRF Stats
In partnership with a commercial MRF operator, we are introducing a service to divert waste EPS away from landfill and incineration. The service has been designed to offer a low maintenance, low cost solution whilst still offering performance improvements.
